Devoke Water

f all the places we visited in our week in the Lakes, Devoke Water was perhaps the most magical. It felt wild in its situation on the relatively flat plains of Birker Fell, despite the telltale signs of industry and humanity on the coastal horizon. We encountered very few other walkers as we explored the area, clambering up the slope to Yoadcastle, and as the sun set on one of our last days in the area Lucy sat reading a book whilst I enjoyed an hour of photography. This is one of my favourite captures from that session.
